INSTITUTE OF PEACE - The mission of the United States
Institute of Peace
is to strengthen the nation's capabilities
to promote the peaceful resolution of international conflicts.
THE
INSTITUTE FOR WAR AND PEACE REPORTING - An
award-winning educational and development charity, IWPR informs the
international debate on conflict and supports the independent media in
regions in transition. Through this work, IWPR contributes to the
resolution of conflict and to the strengthening of civil society,
democracy and the rule of law.
The Institute focuses on the
Balkans, the Caucasus and the Central Asian states, with additional
projects elsewhere in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. IWPR
currently has offices or representatives in Armenia, Azerbaijan,
Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgzstan, Serbia and The Hague war crimes
tribunal, and substantial networks of participating journalists and

BASIC is an independent research organization that
analyzes government policies and promotes

SECURITY NETWORK: A Swiss contribution to Partnership
for Peace and developed by The Center for Security Studies and Conflict
at the ETH (Eldgenossïsche Technische Hochschule) Zurich. An essential
bookmark and tool for anyone interested in international relations.
THE INTERNATIONAL
CRISIS GROUP (ICG): The International Crisis Group (ICG)
is a private, multinational organization committed to strengthening the
capacity of the international community to understand and respond to
impending crises. Teams of political analysts based on the ground in
countries at risks of crisis, gather information from a wide range of
sources, assess local conditions and produce regular analytical reports
containing practical policy recommendations targeted at key
international decision-takers. A valuable resource for the serious
student of international issues.
INSTITUTE FOR SCIENCE AND INTERNATIONAL SECURITY (ISIS): ISIS is a non-profit, non-partisan institution dedicated to
informing the public about science and policy issues affecting
international security. Its efforts focus on stopping the spread of
nuclear weapons, bringing about greater transparency of nuclear
activities worldwide, and achieving deep reductions in nuclear arsenals.
ISIS's projects integrate technical, scientific, and policy research in
order to build a sound foundation for a wide variety of efforts to
reduce the threat posed by nuclear weapons to U.S. and international
security.
THE
BROOKINGS INSTITUTION: A private, independent, nonprofit
research organization, Brookings seeks to improve the performance of
American institutions, the effectiveness of government programs, and the
quality of U.S. public policies. It addresses current and emerging
policy challenges and offers practical recommendations for dealing with
them, expressed in language that is accessible to policy makers and the
general public alike.
THE
HENRY L. STIMSON CENTER: The Henry L. Stimson Center is
a non-profit, non-partisan institution devoted to public policy
research. The Center concentrates on particularly difficult national and
international security issues where policy, technology and politics
intersect.
FOREIGN POLICY
IN FOCUS: A joint project of The Interhemispheric
Resource Center and The Institute for Policy Studies. This is a
'progressive' think tank which will not appeal to everyone, however the
views expressed herein on issues deserve to be disseminated.

THE ALEXIS de TOCQUEVILLE INSTITUTION:
The Alexis de Tocqueville Institution was founded in 1986
to study, promote and extend the principles of classical liberalism:
political equality, civil liberty and economic freedom. AdTI conducts
research on five key areas of concern to policy makers: education,
immigration, national defense, taxes and economic growth and

HERITAGE FOUNDATION: Founded in
1973, The Heritage Foundation is a research and educational institute --
a think tank -- whose mission is to formulate and promote conservative
public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited
government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a
strong national defense.
THE STANLEY FOUNDATIONis a private operating foundation directed toward achieving a
secure peace with freedom and justice. It conducts varied programs and
activities designed to provoke thought and encourage dialogue on world

COUNCIL ON US-ARAB RELATIONS:
Founded in 1983, the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations is an
American non-profit organization dedicated to improving American
knowledge and understanding of the Arab world through people-to-people
exchanges and educational programs.
