INSTITUTE: The Balkan Institue is a
Washington-based non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public, the media, and
policy-makers about the conflict in the Balkans and related security and defense
issues. It provides up-to-date news and analysis concerning Bosnia and the Balkans,
the Dayton Accords and related events.
THE CATO
INSTITUTE: A libertarian think tank
headquartered in Washington, D.C. It is named for Cato's letters, libertarian pamphlets
that helped lay the philosophical foundation for the American Revolution. The
institute undertakes an extensive publications program dealing with the entire spectrum of
public policy issues including foreign policy. It is worth browsing through this site and
following the various links therein.
EURASIA
RESEARCH CENTER WEB SITE: The Eurasia Research
Center Web Site features in depth research reports, news analysis, and links to newspaper
articles and wire service reports with breaking news on the Balkans, Baltic States,
Central Europe, the Caucasus, formerly Soviet Central Asia, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine,
Moldova, Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Also featured are direct links to pages
with information on politics, issues of war and peace, culture, and social, economic and
human rights conditions in Post Cold War Eurasia. The Eurasia Research Center Eurasia News
service provides special reports on crisis regions of Eurasia such as Bosnia, Chechnya,
Kosova, Karabakh, Abkhazia, Afghanistan, Kurdistan, and Tajikistan.

promotes education and research on global problems that threaten human survival and
proposes practical solutions.
THE
INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC POLICY, Program on Peacekeeping Policy: The Program on
Peacekeeping Policy has been established at George Mason University to understand the use
of military, humanitarian, and political forces in the conduct of multinational peace
operations. This program has consisted of a series of round table symposia among other
things. This page will document those round tables and act as a central point for peace
operations documents and research reports. In addition, The Program on Peacekeeping Policy
(POPP) maintains close ties with other institutions with similar agendas.

POLICY COUNCIL: Established in 1981, this is an
American non-profit, tax-exempt, educational organization. The Council's purpose is
to expand public discussion and understanding of issues affecting U.S. policy in the
Middle East.
